HOW TO CELEBRATE CELEBRATIONS AND RESPECT MEASURES: Bishop Stefan pointed out a great nonsense, explained what is difficult for him.

Bishop Stefan Saric, the elder of the Church of Saint Sava, tells Kurir that the Serbian Orthodox Church has always preached that glory is a family holiday and that if those rules were strictly observed, they would fully fit in with the new anti-religious measures. epidemic.

– That the believers stay home and celebrate the glory with the family. The biggest prayer is that when you start the day, say “Help, God”, you persecute and then you can get the job done with God’s blessing. Therefore, it must be done on the day of glory. It is natural to pray to the protector of the family, as who knows. The family should get together on the day of the celebration, speak good words, read the Bible, the Psalms. They should read about the life of the saint whose day they are marking. Unfortunately, there are people who think that Saint Nicholas lived in the 18th century, they do not know the basics. This is an opportunity to celebrate this year in that way, to learn something – explains the bishop.

He adds that what started in the nineties makes no sense: celebrations in taverns, with music, with a large number of guests.

– It has nothing to do with faith or church. It was over the top on everything. It is an opportunity to go back to the original, so that there are not many people present – says Šarić and adds that the priests do not all serve together, but, when there are holidays, one or two priests.

It is difficult, he says, to explain to believers that they should not flock to churches.

– Bringing cakes and cereals to church on the day of the celebration would be feasible only if everyone strictly adhered to the measures. The church teaches respect to the city and church authorities, we have been negotiating since the beginning of the pandemic. It will be complex to explain to people that they do not come to church in such large numbers, but that is our task – explains Saric. Epidemiologist Dr. Radmilo Petrović tells Kurir that believers should celebrate glory in the family circle:

– The measure is clear, up to five people open and closed. It is practically a ban on meetings. No guests should come. If there are six members in a family, then that five-person rule does not apply to them. This rule applies to everyone else.
