– Water, mud, even hot water gushed from the cracks in the ground. It flooded all these meadows below. It happened while I was shaking. It didn’t matter much, and after these two earthquakes last night, people saw that their houses were just fleeing, that the craters were spreading, that it was not safe to live here, said Darko, a resident of Brest Pokupski and president of the local council.
The whole street has a similar problem and many nearby families are experiencing a nightmare with a new water problem. Some houses completely cracked, parts of them separated.
– The ground is a foot lower in this place after the earthquake last night. Is the village in place now or will it sink even more … Who knows – adds Darko.
The Kolarić family can no longer return home because it is not safe to live there.
– I was in the car during the earthquake. I stumbled, then came home and found this. Those cracks, the cracked house, the well water looked like an eruption … Terrible. We sleep in a garbage container. It was brought to us by Mr. Roman from Slovenia, contacted us through the fire department and brought it to us. We also have a heater – said Kolarić, the owner of one of the damaged houses on Urodska street in Brest Pokupski.
