Mladić Đ. Z. (25), who yesterday shot himself in the head with a carbine at his home in Dedinje, was the son of Branko Z. (35), who was murdered 19 years ago in his antique shop.
The unfortunate young man, according to the story of the neighbors, was a very nice boy, but withdrawn when everyone saw him very often at the end.
– I often walked the dog, I was a student, it is terrible that this happened. He was withdrawn, but no one would think that he could commit suicide – said the neighbors.
By the way, as we found out, the young man’s father had the famous antique shop in Dedinje, near the house where Ђ. Z. lived with his mother and sister.
According to press reports from 2002, the murder of Branko Z. took place on Vladimira Gaćinovica Street, when three attackers shot him and his partner Dragan Cvetković, who was seriously injured on that occasion. The attackers allegedly came to the antique store with the intention of extorting Branko’s father, Miroslav Z. (the grandfather of the young man who committed suicide).
Branko and Cvetković were at the antique shop when three young men in tracksuits entered. The young people claimed that one of them was bitten by the owner of the antique store the night before, and that now the owner should pay them a “mess.” By the way, Branko had a pit bull. Branko Z. and Cvetković rebelled and an argument broke out, and the visitors drew their weapons, shot and seriously wounded them.
The attackers separated and two fled to the hospital on Dreiserova Street and one to the White Palace. The injured Branko Z. and Cvetković were transported to the Emergency Center by the owners of neighboring shops, and Branko passed away shortly after admission.
