Now it is definite that around 2.1 million citizens in Serbia will have higher incomes as of January. The increases of 1.7 million pensioners in January’s pension can already be calculated in dinars, and yesterday the increase in salaries in the public sector, in percentage, was officially announced. The oldest should expect higher incomes, but also around 400,000 employees in the public sector: medical workers, teachers, soldiers, public administration …

All medical workers will first receive a one-time aid of 10,000 dinars on Friday, and then 120,000 health care employees will receive a five percent salary increase from January 1 of next year.

Wages will increase at the same time in the rest of the public sector, but according to a different “formula.” That is, their wages for January, February and March will increase by 3.5 percent. Then, starting April 1, your wages will grow another 1.5 percent, so your total increase will be five percent.

Last year, remember, salaries in the public sector increased by an average of eight to 15 percent in November. Nurses and technicians received the highest growth at the time – 15 percent, while physicians and science and culture employees each received a 10 percent increase.

Education employees, judges, prosecutors, employees of courts and prosecutors, as well as workers of social protection institutions and members of the services and security forces received an increase of nine percent. State administration employees received an eight percent raise.

The state again increased the wages of all healthcare workers in April this year, amid the corona virus pandemic, by 10 percent.

The minimum is higher by 6.6 percent

Starting January 1, the minimum wage will increase 6.6 percent.

Thus, some 350,000 people who receive a minimum of 30,000 dinars today will receive 32,126 dinars per month in 2021.

Pensions 400 euros until 2025.

Around 1.7 million pensioners should expect higher incomes in the new year, because pension growth under the Swiss formula has been announced for 2021, at 5.9 percent. After the increase, the average pension will increase from the current 27,769 dinars to 29,407 dinars, or 1,638 dinars.

Practically, from 2021, instead of 10,000 dinars of pension, pensioners will receive about 600 more dinars, while those with higher incomes (above 100,000) will have an increase of at least 6,300 dinars.

Pensions will grow next year according to the agreed model: the Swiss formula, which involves adjusting the income of older citizens with 50% inflation and 50% growth in average wages, and the Serbian government has announced a new model starting in 2022 that would allow even greater growth.

The goal is for the average pension to reach 400 euros in 2025.
