Arrogant Belgrade drivers are trying in every way to reach out to the communal police and fool the new “oko sokolovo” system, which has been recording illegal and unpaid parking on up to 242 streets since yesterday. To avoid punishment, citizens remove their plates or stick self-adhesive tapes and sheets on them, cover them with cardboard cloth, but “protect” them from filming even with surgical masks!
– It is impossible to fool the “hawk eye”, and if someone tries to do so, he will have to pay the fine for the violation and the costs of the “spider” – said Goran Vesić.
Penalties for fraudsters
Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić says it is impossible to fool “the hawk’s eye”, and if someone tries to do so, they will have to pay the fine, but also the costs of being taken away by the “spider”.
– When the cameras record the covered table, at the same time the alarm is activated, which was received by the closest patrol of the communal militia and the Parking Service. Her teams are patrolling the area where the “hawk’s eye” system operates. Within minutes, a police car arrives at the parked car arrogantly. If the owner shows up, he is fined 25,000 dinars on the spot and if he is not there, a spider takes the vehicle. In that case, in addition to the fine for the infringement, the owner also pays the costs of taking the car with a spider, explains Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić.
Let us remind you, “oko sokolovo” registers incorrectly parked vehicles on streets, rails, yellow lanes, sidewalks, green areas and the prescribed fines range from 10,000 to 25,000 dinars.
Until yesterday, the “oko sokolovo” system controls the illegal and adequate parking of vehicles in a total of 242 streets in Belgrade, and the Communal Militia has expanded the control area in another 121 streets, that is, the most critical streets for the traffic in the city center, in the municipalities of Stari grad, Vracar and Savski Venac. , Palilula, but also in New Belgrade and Zemun.
Citizen requests
The deputy chief of the Belgrade Communal Police, Ranko Šekularac, says that the number of streets in which parking is controlled increases due to the suggestions and requests of citizens who have faced these problems on the streets where they live.
– So far, more than 8,500 orders for minor crimes have been issued to the most irresponsible. What is currently the main problem is the insufficient number of communal militiamen, because we need at least 300. Control has been extended to the streets of Donji Dorcol, Profesorska kolonija, Neimar and Cubura, and includes the streets of the Belgrade settlement above the water and its surroundings – he says.
Jasmina Milošević from the Road Safety Agency also says that the most important thing is that people do not get involved in the fraud of this system, because it is very important for the safety of both pedestrians and passengers.
– With the introduction of the “hawk eye”, we certainly got another form of prevention when it comes to traffic accidents. In addition to regular traffic, improper parking also creates a risk of accidents, especially in school zones. Improperly parked vehicles certainly affect traffic because they reduce the field of vision of other drivers and create an additional obstacle for pedestrians, forcing them to move on the street, he says.
