Miladin Kovačević (33), a former basketball player, who was denounced by his girlfriend Tina T. (26) for beating her in an apartment in Belgrade, was detained for up to 48 hours yesterday after being questioned by the police, on the orders of the Belgrade First Basic Prosecutor’s Office.

As Kurir exclusively reported, Tina T. reported Kovacevic in the evening between Tuesday and Wednesday, claiming that Kovacevic physically assaulted her and then confiscated her mobile phone and purse with documents, making her fear for her own safety.

She ran away with her cousin

– Kovacevic is suspected of endangering security and abuse and torture because he is suspected of threatening the girl, pulling her hair and breaking her mobile phone.

The girl, who reported her behavior, presented a list of injuries to the prosecution yesterday. She will also be questioned, as well as her cousin with whom she fled after the fight with Kovacevic, this was confirmed by the prosecution yesterday.

As Kurir reported, Tina T. allegedly managed to escape to her sister’s house after the harassment at Kovačević’s apartment and then reported everything to the police.

Tina video of the fight: Let me go, I want to be with you!

Yesterday a video appeared on social networks, showing the discussion between Kovacevic and Tina. The recording shows a knock on the door of the apartment in which Kovačević is supposedly, who is transferring a spy, and on the other side a female figure can be seen.

– Explain the reason for your fucking, I did everything you wanted – he addresses the girl, while she begs to open it.

“I want to be with you, open it for me,” he responds.

“There’s nothing like that, Tina, you don’t have to see me with that behavior again,” he replies.

“Sorry,” Tina yells.

– Listen, I’m sorry, I’m not 12 years old – Kovacevic responds at the end of the recording, which then stops, while the girl continues screaming.

The former basketball player, who became known to the public in 2008 because of the brutal beating of the American student Brian Steinhauer, appeared yesterday at the Savski Venac police station, accompanied by his lawyer Ivan Gvozdenec.

– The stigmatization of Miladin Kovacevic continues. Let the state do its job: shortly after questioning the suspect in the police, his defense attorney Gvozdenac stated.

Did not present defense

As Kurir unofficially learns, Kovacevic did not present his defense to the police, but should do so at the prosecutor’s office.

Politicians’ Reactions: Leaders of the current opposition gave a million to be released

Damir Handanović, director of CEBEF, wrote that “Kovačević did not accidentally show his temper.”

– Tadic, Djilas, Jeremic and Borko gave a million dollars of people’s money for the beast to be released. Miladin Kovacevic hits again and escapes from the law. The violence was left to us by his government – Handanović wrote on Twitter, while the co-chair of the Party of Modern Serbia Tatjana Macura recalled on the same social network that some leaders of the current opposition were responsible for the case of Miladin Kovačević in 2008 and the fact that the state gave him a lot of money in exchange for compensation.

Let us remind the general public that it became known 12 years ago due to the brutal beating of student Brian Steinhauer in the United States. That is, the state of Serbia paid $ 900,000 to the family of the young man who was beaten on behalf of compensation, and Kovacevic was sentenced to two years and three months in prison in Serbia two years later, on the basis of a plea agreement, before the First Court of First Instance.
