As stated at the Crisis Staff press conference, that decision will be in effect until December 1, and whether it will be extended even after that date depends on the epidemiologist’s assessment.

He stated that the emergency situation was introduced on the recommendation of the medical profession, taking into account the number of tested and positive, as well as the fact that there is enormous pressure on the Nis Clinical Center, but also on the Health Center.

Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović noted that Niš had to declare a state of emergency, and that the number of patients who tested positive, as well as the fact that the epidemiological situation, which was initially assessed as unsafe, has now turned unfavorable. , speak up for that.

– We must make a decision that guarantees a better organization, more efficient action and the implementation of all measures – said Tiodorović, adding that the objective of the measures is to reduce the number of patients, but also to strengthen people’s sense of responsibility. .

When asked about asymptomatic cases and assuming how many there are in that city, Tiodorović said that if 37-38 percent of positive people are in Nis every day, then we should expect to speak of thousands of asymptomatic cases.

When it comes to the Clinical Center, Tiodorović says that it is now in a position to have sufficient capacity to care for patients who need hospital treatment, noting that the health institution is not only in charge of Niš, but of the entire southeastern Serbia, said he was considering from tomorrow, they are preparing Niška Banja for that purpose.

As he explained, the declaration of an emergency situation means that the Crisis Staff will be able to bring additional measures and announced the possibility of going to work from home or school to online classes.

Zarko Rankovic, coordinator of the Chair’s sports hall, which was designated a temporary hospital by decision of the crisis personnel of the Republic, also spoke at the conference.

Ranković said that there are 180 beds in the room, four boxes with five beds each and 16 with 10 beds each, which is equipped for light and medium weight patients, that is, a laboratory, mobile radiography and monitoring of ECG.

According to him, today at 12 noon there were seven patients in that facility, one of whom was from Nis.

Considering that one of the possible measures is that children whose one of the parents works from home or does not work, do not go to nursery schools, Svetlana Mitic, director of the preschool institution “Pcelica”, said that the situation is basically under control, Since some 2,000 children are coming these days, which represents 30 to 32 percent of the children enrolled.

Three educators from the group were infected with milder clinical conditions, and Mitic says that it will not close the kindergartens, that the 26 kindergartens will work and that children whose parents work can go to them.
