He will be jailed in Switzerland for the failed robbery in Lugano

A court in Zurich, Switzerland, today sentenced three citizens of Serbia, who are considered members of the famous and notorious criminal gang Pink Panthers, to several years in prison.

Three Serbs, aged between 39 and 44, whose identities have not been disclosed, were sentenced to five, six and seven and a half years in prison for plotting the robbery and other crimes. The Zurich court also ruled that after the execution of the sentence, two will be banned from entering the Schengen countries for the next 10 years, and the third for 15 years.

Those convicted have the right to appeal, since it is a first instance verdict.

These three criminals are accused of plotting the grand jewelery robbery in Lugano in February 2018. They were arrested just before they planned to break into the jeweler and seize several hundred thousand euros worth of jewelery and watches. Their plan was thwarted because the police managed to locate them and sound one of the vehicles they were using, so they heard about the robbery plans. The Serbian Panthers were betrayed by the history of outrageously high earnings.

Yesterday in court, the Serbs denied everything they are charged with, emphasizing that it is not true that they planned a major robbery in Lugano. One of the prisoners claimed that he had come to Ticino to buy vehicles that he would later resell in Serbia.

Members of the infamous group Pink Panther have carried out spectacular robberies around the world since 2006 and took a large amount of expensive jewelry. So far, they are charged with 24 robberies, including the one from Dubai when they stole loot worth 11 million.

The memorable action of 2016 in Zurich, after which they fled with loot worth at least one million euros, will also continue.
