FC “Slavija Pivnica” footballer Miljan Rakočević (23) died in a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday around 5 pm on the Sivac-Kula road, the day his mother had her birthday.
The accident occurred when Sara D. (26), driving a “Golf 4” car, suddenly crossed into the opposite lane and collided directly with a “Golf 5”, driven by the late Rakočević.
To make the accident even bigger, as reported by some Belgrade media, that day was his mother’s birthday and he went to buy her a present.
Died on the spot
– He was going from Crvenka to Sivac. She hit Rakocevic’s car directly. She was killed instantly by the force of the blow, and she was taken to Sombor hospital with injuries, a source from the investigation said.
Zvezdan Rakočević, the father of the injured footballer, told “Kurir” that they are waiting to bring his son’s body from Novi Sad.
– I had three children, Miljan was the youngest. It was his mother’s birthday on Sunday. He got in the car to go buy her a gift, he was alone in the car. He could not bring a gift to his mother and make her happy – said his father Zvezdan with a crying voice.
He added that he did not know why the girl switched to the opposite side.
– I have heard various stories, people are talking about everything now, but what exactly happened has not yet been determined. Some say he was looking at something before the accident, be it the phone or the navigation. They even mention that he had a laptop on his lap and that it caught his attention – says the inconsolable father and adds that he does not know the girl who is suspected of causing the accident.
He also loved to fish
According to him, Miljan was a passionate sportsman and, in addition to football, he was also engaged in fishing.
– From the age of five I was fishing, I went to children’s competitions. It also has trophies, mentions, awards, a full shelf. Exactly on Saturday, the day before the accident, she had a game – adds Zvezdan.
Miljan Rakočević started his football career at Sivac, he also played for Crvenka football club, then Kula’s Hajduk, Bačka Topola and FC Slavija. He will be buried today in the local Sivac cemetery.
