Australian plus-size model and activist Ashley Atkins gained a lot of attention after talking about her experience on Tick Tok. She says she opened an account on this social network to talk about plus-size women and foster a positive view of plus-size women, but says she encountered such hatred there that she canceled the account three times.
– There are many messages that I want to inspire people and that they loved their body for me. However, it is unfortunate that there are too many who insult, threaten and curse me, she says for the Australian media.
– The worst thing for me was when I received messages from my colleagues who wanted me to get sick with cancer because I was uploading my photos. So normally I canceled accounts – she says.
The biggest scandal was caused by one of her nude photos, after which she received the most curses.
“Three times this year, I had to leave my social media accounts due to threats and insults I received, and people wanted cancer for me because of this image.”
– By the way, I am one of the smallest models and I can’t even imagine what kind of messages the bigger girls get and what they find every day. For that you have to have very thick skin and a strong stomach. However, I came back despite the trolls because I want to get my message across and because there are enough people who appreciate what I do and send me messages of support and encouragement – he says.
