“We assume that these weapons are intended for street gangs and as such pose a significant threat to the public safety of all our communities,” Toronto Police Lt. Domenik Sinopoli was quoted as saying by CTV News Toronto.

An investigation was launched earlier this year when police officers working on the case learned that drug trafficking was taking place in that part of Toronto.

Police were clear that there was a possible drug deal near Parklowen and Barry Roads in Etobikouk, the lieutenant added.

“This is a very quiet and respectable part of Toronto, where the houses are separated from each other, there are also buildings with very few apartments, as well as parks, playgrounds and elementary schools,” said Inspector Tim Kroons.

When they broke into the suspect’s apartment, they learned that it was Danijel Dubajić, who was reported as a tenant in the building.

“The inspectors told me that he was very calm, that he was cooperative and that he didn’t say much, as well as that he knew one day a day like this would come,” Crown added.

The apartment’s owner, Joe Bakes, told CTV News Toronto that Dubajić lived there for 22 years and was a painter and that he paid for everything on time.
