The Kotor Court of First Instance convicted an MS under the age of 17, who killed a police officer Maja Šljivančanin (31) on a yacht on the high seas near Budva on July 11 and injured her fiance, Professor Vladimir Stanišić (36), 120 hours of community service. and increased supervision of the social service, after which Stanišić and the family of victim Maja reacted.

Stanisic, disappointed and angry, spoke up and said that the verdict against the arrogant son of a wealthy Serb was scandalous, to say the least, writes “Srpski Telegraf”.

– With this decision of the Court of First Instance of Kotor, a clear message was sent to the family of the late Maja Sljivancanin and to me, the wounded Vladimir Stanisic, but also to all citizens of Montenegro, that the personal interest of an individual arrogant is above the interests of society! Furthermore, a message is being sent that the perpetrators of such and similar acts have nothing to shy away from because they are above the law with money and influence in the judiciary, noted the outraged Stanišić, who suffered spinal injuries and the kidneys in the accident.

Angry that the juvenile court, otherwise the son of a Serbian businessman, who treated him like a child in his early adulthood, Stanisic, who otherwise works as a teacher at the Police Academy in Danilovgrad, says no You can wait to see the embarrassing explanation of the verdict of the trial, which ended quickly. only two hearings. That is, the minor has been on trial for a maritime accident since August 26, and today the Kotor Court of First Instance handed down a verdict that completely broke the family of the injured girl and his boyfriend.

– Although the reasons for this decision will be presented to us later, when the court prepares a written verdict and gives an explanation, it is not clear what could have led to the acting judge a person who was allegedly capable of operating a ship of over 10t and over 600 hp, for just one pair. months of majority, led him to release him from responsibility for the act he undoubtedly committed – the outraged Stanišić is explicit, reports “Srpski Telegraf”.

The unfortunate Stanišić is also tormented by the idea that the young criminal did not try to help him and the victim Maja in the accident.

– M. did not show sincere remorse, did not even try to eliminate the terrible consequence by helping us. The sanction imposed, when the consequences of death and the circumstances in which the accident occurred are taken into account, has the character of a reward for the culprit who caused the accident, Stanišić said.

The family of victim Maja also addressed the Montenegrin media, outraged by the verdict.

– For the family, the relationship between such tragic consequences and the loss of our loved one and the punishment of 120 hours of useful work for the person who operated the yacht is incomprehensible. The punishment was pronounced as if some minor crime had been committed without major consequences, and not a young life was extinguished. It is incomprehensible that a shameful verdict was delivered, and that the investigating bodies, as well as the court, did not shed light on all the details of this tragic event. Firstly, who allowed the minor to operate the yacht, who owns the boat, how the minor’s family members are allowed to approach the yacht after the accident and obviously influence the evidence and investigation, the Sljivancanin family claimed.

They add that his “wounds remain incurable because no justice has been done at all.”

– As well as the feeling that the official judicial bodies of Montenegro contribute to this, but also those that participated in the preliminary and subsequent investigation. If this verdict survives, and for us as a family, there is no legal remedy because we cannot appeal, then the public will be left with a strong message that behind such unfair decisions by the Montenegrin judiciary, it does not judge by law but by privilege. and maybe secret connections. This verdict must be overturned, not only because of our Maja, but because tomorrow another family may be wrapped in black because the judiciary protects the perpetrators of this horrible crime and therefore encourages impunity and arrogance, it is stated in the reaction of the Sljivancanin family published by “Vesti” from Podgorica.

It should be recalled that MS is accused of causing a speedboat on the high seas near Budva while driving a speedboat by negligence, when it collided with a boat containing Sljivancanin and Stanisic.

The minor claimed that he did not see the boat in front of him.

In mid-August, the Kotor Court of First Instance accepted a bond of 332,000 euros offered by the MS family to defend themselves against the accusations of causing the accident. According to the expert report, the minor caused a maritime accident by not adhering to international standards on prevention of collisions at sea, as well as article 10 of the Maritime Navigation Safety Law.
