Dobrivoje D. (61) from Kragujevac was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of killing his unmarried wife Ljubinka P. (61) at their home in Bresnica. As we learn, Dobrivoje D. drank hydrochloric acid after the crime, but did not commit suicide, so he sought medical help.
– He arrived at the Clinical Center with signs of intoxication. When doctors asked him why he drank the acid, he said his wife drank the same liquid before him and committed suicide. Like he said, he couldn’t bear it, so he decided to end that too – says Kurir’s source.
He confessed to the police
However, after police found Ljubinka dead in his home with numerous visible wounds on his body, Dobrivoje changed history.
– He confessed to the crime to the police, saying that he beat his wife to death after an argument. After the confession, he was arrested and the case went to the Superior Prosecutor’s Office, added the interlocutor.
According to the testimony of the neighbors, the couple lived in very bad conditions, without electricity or water, which was already seen in the gate of the patio. The house is in ruins, and neighbors say the couple had nothing to live on.
– She has not had a job for more than 15 years, and Ljubinka was begging in the streets and cutting firewood to earn a living. From time to time we buy them food – says the first neighbor, who wishes to remain anonymous.
According to acquaintances, Dobrivoje had five children: a son, who drowned a few years ago, and four daughters. According to neighbors, one of Dobrivoje’s daughters tried to remarry her stepmother, the murdered Ljubinka.
She came back six days ago
– She succeeded in that intention and Ljubinka had left Dobrivoje. However, he was determined to find her and she returned to Kragujevac six days ago. It was then that the disputes between them began, which escalated and, unfortunately, ended in tragedy, added the neighbors.
As we found out, Dobrivoje D. should be questioned by the prosecutor today. – He is currently suspected of domestic violence with a fatal outcome, and after the autopsy and interrogation, the prosecutor will make a decision on whether this crime will be reclassified as aggravated homicide – says a source in the investigation.

Neighbors of Bresnica say that they were shocked by the crime, and they say that Dobrivoje was not supernatural, nor did he drink. – We don’t even know when it happened, because nothing was heard from the house, and we are right next to them. We only found out that Ljubinka was dead when we saw the police – said the neighbor.
