The spirit of helping and giving to the poor, which was the meaning and commitment of Saint Nicholas’ life, must be given tomorrow to those who have no help. That is why it is a tradition to give nuts, hazelnuts, apples and sweets by putting them on the shoes by the bed or on the windows.

In addition to being celebrated as the largest Serbian first name, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is also a guild glory, that is, the protector of the trade of boatmen, rafters, fishermen and millers. That is why it is also called the glory of water, and it is believed that you should not even start traveling. He is also considered by the people as the protector of travelers and the poor.
