“HE DEFENDED SERBIA DURING THE NATO AGGRESSION” Shocking confession of the mother of the pilot who died in the accident near Mali Zvornik, sent him a message a few hours before the tragedy

– When we found out about the plane crash and that there was a possibility that the pilot had catapulted himself, we prayed that our Dejan was alive. Well, have both of his legs broken, we would push him in a wheelchair, but only to keep him alive!

With these words, Milijana Krsnik, the mother of Major Dejan Krsnik (49), who died the day before yesterday in the crash of a Serbian army plane, a MiG-21 plane in the village of Brasine near Loznica, begins her confession for “Blic “. Her colleague Zvonko Vasiljevic (43) was also assassinated then. The inconsolable woman remembers the last message she received from her son on Friday morning, a few hours before the tragedy.

– Viber sent me a photo from the plane, with helmet, oxygen. She wrote that they would also fly over Kraljevo, where her father and I live, her mother says in a crying voice.

Firefighters and an ambulance immediately went to the scene of the accident.

As soon as they found out that the MiG-21 had crashed, Stjepan and Milijana knew that their only one was in it, as he had flown exclusively in this type of supersonic aircraft throughout his career. The hope that Dejan was not injured was fueled by the news that a pilot had catapulted himself. However, she was later called by Dejan’s commander from Batajnica, but she did not have the strength to tell him anything.

– When I saw Dejan Aca’s classmate and Ladjevac’s commander at the door, it was clear to me … They didn’t have to say anything to me or my wife … We knew the worst had come true. That our Dejan will not return from the summer. We lived with that fear all the time … Probably the plane caught fire during the accident and they both got burned. I think they suffered so that the plane did not fall on the houses, and thus they avoided civilian casualties – the mother of the pilot Kresnik is inconsolable and adds that her husband, daughter-in-law and grandson went to Batajnica to take care of all things Dejan.

Their only son, the story goes, as a child, while living in Zagreb, wanted to be a pilot. She finished aviation high school in Zemunik, went to the academy, but due to the war in Croatia, she continued her education in Rajlovac near Sarajevo. There she was also interrupted by armed conflicts, so she continued her education in Podgorica, and then began her service in Pristina. She also defended the skies and citizens of Serbia during the NATO aggression in 1999.

– My son flew the MiG-21 for a whole century. Not that he’s my Dejan, but he really was a top driver. The pilot, as his friends said, adds the unhappy mother.

Dejan was nearing retirement. In just over two months, more precisely on December 6, he would have a full 40 years of experience. He was supposed to retire on May 28 of next year, on his 50th birthday.

– He trained pilot Zvonko, who died with him. He used, as the youngest pilots in aviation are called, to train pacemakers and retire. However, he did not intend to stop flying. He planned to continue training young people at the Vršac Pilot Academy. Her only 20-year-old son, my grandson, also attends this academy – says the mother with a sad voice.

She and her father gave Dejan a house in the vicinity of Kraljevo, and he began to fix it. She wanted to spend more time downstairs when she retired, close to her parents, Milijana, who used to work as a nurse at the Rebro Hospital in Zagreb, and Stjepan, a retired lieutenant colonel.

– It’s scary when a parent outlives a child. We had an apartment in Zagreb, but we were left without it. We don’t even have an apartment here, we’re both sick. I have cancer, my husband has had surgery. Dejan gave us strength for life – says the inconsolable Milijana, the mother of pilot Dejan Krsnik.

The plane did not take off defective

Zoran Biserčić, a retired colonel, said yesterday that the causes of this accident could be different, but that it certainly could not be that the plane took off defective.

– The causes of the fall are being determined, it is done by very expert commissions. Two or more commissions are always formed. What are the possible samples? They can be a plane failure, there may be some procedure, as in traffic accidents. It certainly can not be that the plane took off defective – said Biserčić for TV “Prva”.

He also assessed that there is no human error, which is why he also mentioned Ayrton Senna.

– Simple: a network of circumstances happens. It’s such a risky job that there are a thousand factors, and for the plane to take off, it must be signed by up to eight people, and the last in that series is the pilot himself, Biserčić said.

The cause is investigated

Meanwhile, the competent authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. In addition to the Sabac Superior Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation is also being carried out by two commissions of the Serbian army, which are working on the ground to clarify the circumstances of the deaths of two pilots. Defense Minister Aleksandra Vulin said that “he cannot rush them”, but that the members of the commissions will do everything possible and that they will first present the conclusions to the competent prosecutor’s office. The defense minister stated that the plane did not have a black box, besides that it was a regular flight task. According to him, no military plane can take off “without five signatures,” and that is the signature of four mechanics and others who control the plane, and the fifth is the signature of the pilot himself.
