NP (49), a resident of Novi Sad, was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of inappropriately touching an eight-year-old girl, police confirmed to “Blic”. As we learn, NP is a neighbor of the unfortunate girl and a good friend of her parents, and this was confirmed by the girl’s mother, who wanted to remain anonymous to protect her daughter’s identity.
– I’m in complete shock. We have known each other for a long time, we live in the neighborhood and until now we have been like a family. NP’s wife is my best friend and we visit each other all the time. They have four kids, and we have two, and they’re all here for similar years, so they hang out really well and sleep together. We are all completely confused – the mother of the abused girl tells us.
He says that the unpleasant event occurred in early September and that it was not the first time, and that NP treated his daughter this way three times.
– NP’s third son and my daughter are the same age and have always been good friends. He is a bit attached to his mother and she suggested that he come back to spend the night with us to separate a bit. However, the boy said that it was better for my daughter to go back to sleep with them first, so that he would do it next time, and then the daughter said that she did not want to go. I was surprised because she loved hanging out with that guy. I insisted that she tell me why she didn’t want to go, and then she confidently told me that the last three times she slept with them, NP touched her inappropriately, but that she was afraid to say so. He entered the room where my daughter slept with the other children and touched and caressed her – the horrified mother of the attacked girl tells us.
He says he immediately told his wife and that they reported the case to the police, who reacted quickly and detained the perpetrator after a short investigation.
– The daughter gave a statement to the police and experts from the Social Work Center spoke with her. We were told that there was no need for a gynecologist to examine her because the NP did not “go all the way.” This is the worst thing that can happen to a parent. I really don’t know what we’re going to do now. The teacher noticed a small change in my daughter’s behavior and lack of concentration, so she advised us, as well as the experts at the Center for Social Work, to consult a psychologist, which we will do. I sincerely hope that he somehow manages to forget that, an upset mother tells us.
He points out that he still can’t believe NP did something like that when they were so good and like family.
– We can’t come to our senses yet. It ruined the lives of all of us. Both ours and his family. Her son and daughter were born the same day 15 hours apart and we have been inseparable ever since. We eat and sleep together. We left each other’s children in the care and could not even dream that something like this would happen in the worst nightmares. Now comes my wife NP and apologizes and does justice. She has no reason to do that. I trust her completely and it is not her fault. Now she wants to divorce him. It destroyed us all, a contrite mother tells us who trusts the judiciary and hopes that the NP will receive the punishment it deserves.
NP was ordered to be detained by the police for up to 48 hours, and will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office with a criminal complaint that he committed the crime of illegal sexual activity.
