HAVE YOU BEEN VACCINATED AGAINST KOVID 19? Here’s why you should act like it’s not

Vaccination in Serbia started well, so well that we are the second country in Europe with around 450,000 vaccinated in terms of the number of people vaccinated per 100,000 inhabitants. The vaccine is undoubtedly the strongest weapon in the fight against the crown, but far from being able to relax after this result. For at least three reasons …

Three reasons why there is no relaxation even after the vaccine

First, the vast majority of those vaccinated received only the first dose of the vaccine, and the full effect of the vaccine is acquired only two weeks after the second dose.

Given that the interval between the two doses is three weeks, it is realistic to expect that more than 450,000 people who have been vaccinated so far will acquire almost complete immunity to the corona by early March.

All this indicates that in the next period, those vaccinated should continue to wear a mask, maintain physical distance and respect all other epidemiological regulations to minimize the possibility of contagion.

In addition, it must be borne in mind that even when these 450,000 vaccinated in early March acquire almost complete immunity to the crown, that will mean that only about 6.5 percent of the population is immunized.

If we know that a third of the population has passed the crown, we are still far from the herd immunity that should constitute 60-70 percent of the population. Unfortunately, it has been shown that those who have undergone the crown can also become re-infected.

Finally, previous analysis, research and studies show that even those who received two doses of the vaccine and acquired immunity to corona can still carry the virus. This means that they must wear a mask to reduce the possibility of infecting others, especially those closest to them who have not been vaccinated or have not acquired antibodies against kovid 19.

Stokić: It is possible to get infected after the first dose.

The director of the Vojvodina Clinical Center, Edita Stokić, pointed out that those vaccinated should be careful as if they were not vaccinated, because as long as they do not receive the second dose and achieve full immunity, they can become infected with the coronavirus. .

Stokić warned that it is possible for a vaccinated person to contract coronavirus symptoms after the first dose, and that in the meantime there is no remission.

– What we must bear in mind is that even if someone has been vaccinated, they should not give in to the protection measures and consider themselves sufficiently immune, because it is possible that in the meantime, to achieve complete protection of the organism, there must be an infection – he said which is Stokić.

Shekler: The vaccine is a guarantee that we will not get seriously ill

The virologist and microbiologist at the Kraljevo Veterinary Institute, Milanko Shekler, also emphasizes that he called on all vaccinated people to behave as if they had not received the vaccine after the first dose, to wear a mask and maintain physical distance.

– Then, those vaccinated after the first dose do not have to relax, until they receive the second dose of the vaccine and until two more weeks have passed, they must comply with absolutely all the measures, as if nothing happened. Only after two weeks from the second dose, the immune system reached the level of protection that can be said: I am protected now, in the sense that it will not get seriously ill – said Shekler.

Leading British Epidemiologist: Do vaccinated people also transmit the virus?

UK Deputy Health Minister and prominent epidemiologist Jonathan Van-Tam warned they could get vaccinated even after the second dose of the vaccine.

As he emphasized, “the vaccine cannot guarantee that you will not get sick at all, it only guarantees that your life is now protected and that you cannot contract a more serious form and endanger your life.”

He also stated that it takes at least three weeks after vaccination to fully develop the immune response in the elderly: “Even when you receive both doses of the vaccine, you can still transmit kovid-19 to another person and the chains of transmission will continue.” .

Van-Tam warned citizens to adhere to measures even after vaccination so as not to expose other people waiting to receive their dose to risks.

Who are we and who are not to receive the vaccine

The director of KCV, Edita Stokić, stated that it is known that patients with type 1 and 2 diabetes have three to four times the risk of contracting kovid 19 with a more severe clinical picture, but also with more frequent hospitalizations, they remain in units intensive care, and fatal outcome.

– On the other hand, it has been shown that good glucoregulation is a significant factor that can reduce morbidity and mortality – said Edita Stokić.

He added that the American Diabetes Association, which is a leader in the professional aspect of treating patients with diabetes, clearly noted that vaccination is one of the safest options to stop and exit this epidemic in the diabetic population.

He emphasized that the vaccine can be received by other endocrinological patients, as well as by people receiving hormone therapy.

Allergies are not a barrier to the vaccine, except …

Biochemists and epidemiologists point out that the vaccine can also be administered to people allergic to penicillin, ragweed, dust, eggs, shellfish …

However, as they say, it is very important that those who have any type of allergy, especially to medications, inform their doctor and consult with him before going to receive the vaccine. The highest risk of vaccination is a group of people who have previously had anaphylactic shock. Otherwise, the vaccine is not recommended for those with an acute allergy.

The kovid 19 vaccine should not be given to pregnant women because no previous vaccine trials have included pregnant women. It’s similar for kids, but the world’s leading drug companies now

People prone to thrombophilia should consult a hematologist prior to vaccination.

The kovid 19 vaccine could have side effects in people prone to thrombophilia, as one of the possible side effects of the vaccine is blood clotting.

Therefore, people prone to thrombophilia are advised to see a hematologist before vaccination and consult with him if they can receive the vaccine.
