H1 calls on the UNS to stop campaigning against professional journalists

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) announced today that it calls on journalists from H1, NoveS and Nova.rs to resist pressure from owners and stop violating the Journalists Code. UNS said that H1 violated professional and ethical rules by reporting the Zurich court’s ruling in Dragan Solak’s lawsuit against Pink, Informer and Studio B, as well as information published by UNS about the trial.

“Under the pretext of protecting journalism, this association, chaired by Vladimir Radomirovic from the shadow of former president Ljiljana Smajlovic, is planting falsehoods that H1 journalists and editors edit the show under pressure from the owners. Radomirovic and Smajlovic have been for days trying to create a ‘case’ that does not exist Ljiljana Smajlović is a member of that Council and permanently justifies the tabloid violations in the tabloids that have been shown to have violated the Code of Ethics several thousand times.žSerbian journalists, who she chaired for years, divided journalists in Serbia over their role in the wars of the 1990s. Precisely due to the drastic violation of basic professional standards by the UNS, another Independent Association of Serbian Journalists was formed.

H1 journalists independently edit the program and report on events in Serbia, without influence or pressure, and are free to express their opinions on editorial policy. H1 journalists call on UNS to stop the campaign of falsehoods against H1 and to finally start to deal with the protection of media workers in Serbia who are really under great pressure and who are undoubtedly receiving instructions not only from the owners, but also from the main authorities and other centers of political power.

H1 journalists call on the UNS to finally start reacting to attacks by pro-government media on independent media, which is a unique phenomenon in the history of journalism, as well as to publicly condemn the practice of ordering issues intended to attempt to discredit to independent media in Serbia. statement signed by:
