After several months of international investigation, the police arrested MR (1984), M. YO. (1981), R. METRO. (1986), V. В. (1963) and me. .. (1980), all from the vicinity of Žablja, due to the existence of reasons to suspect that they committed the crime of human trafficking, is stated in the announcement of the Ministry of the Interior.

They are accused of taking three Serbian citizens to Belgium in the period from February to October 2019, deceiving them that a well-paid job as a painter would work in the territory of that European country.

The victims are suspected of being forced to steal several tons of copper and other metals daily from factories in the city of Charlois, which they later sold as waste.

Thus, it is suspected that members of the criminal group illegally obtained 1,000 to 1,500 euros a day, which they used to buy real estate, cars and other personal needs.

During the search of the apartments where the suspects are staying, the police found around 5,000 euros, two pistols with ammunition, a larger quantity of gold jewelery and several mobile phones.

The suspects were detained for up to 48 hours and will be taken to the Novi Sad High Prosecutor’s Office, along with a criminal report.
