ZRENJANIN – Bojana U. (86) from Zrenjanin, died at her home in the Bagljaš settlement after, as suspected, an explosion caused by a gas leak. A powerful explosion erupted a few minutes before midnight, on Christmas Eve, and disturbed the citizens of that part of Zrenjanin:
– The explosion was so strong that the whole of Bagljaš was reeling – testified one of the neighbors of the injured old woman who was alone in the house. According to him, his neighbor was visually impaired, so she rarely left the house:
– I immediately alerted the police and fire brigade and went out into the street. The heart was everywhere, because the glass at the entrance of the house was broken by the force of the detonation. The flame was not large. Firefighters removed the body of the unfortunate old woman from the ruins of the courtyard of the house for more than an hour.
The lightning struck his body. Although, as we heard, the doctors tried resuscitation after the extraction, unfortunately, there was no help for Bojana’s grandmother – said the old woman’s neighbor.
As could be heard at the scene of the terrible tragedy, the force of the explosion collapsed the roof of the courtyard of the house. The old woman was reportedly asleep when, after the explosion, the ceiling collapsed and the ceiling beams fell on her. The body of the unfortunate old woman was sent for an autopsy to the Novi Sad Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the investigation by the competent police and prosecutor’s office is ongoing.
Bojana U. left behind her son Ljubiša’s grandson and two twin grandchildren, and they live on several streets. Neighbors said they visited her every day, especially her son, who himself participated in removing the body from the rubble.
