Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić said today that the amendments to the Law on Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases are a kind of test for all state bodies to start to consistently implement epidemiological measures.

Vesić specified that the amendments to the law, which entered into force today, allow the communal militia, together with inspectors and sanitary inspectors, who until now have been the only ones, to control the implementation of existing measures in a much more efficient way. .

– The existing measures are more than enough, but to really be implemented, and so that it does not happen that every night 15, 20 or 50 catering companies announce parties on social media, knowingly violate the measures and behave arrogantly, putting in danger to all the people who approach there – said Vesić.

As Beoinfo reported, Vesić said that changes in the law allow us to finally get in the way of those who brag under these conditions, which is inadmissible.

He adds that the new law will be a test of whether all state bodies, together with the city of Belgrade, will consistently implement the measures, including the prosecutor’s office, the police and the health inspection.

– All together we must give our contribution to prevent the arrogant catering from laughing at us, who deliberately spread the infection, committing a crime. Before talking about new measures, we will implement the existing measures to the end – declared Vesić.

He assessed that the situation in Belgrade is dramatic, but that we must be sober and that our health system also works in this situation.

Vesić once again recalled the obligations to wear masks indoors and in public transport, keep distance, avoid risky meetings because, he says, that is the only way to save ourselves and others.

The good news, he stressed, is that Serbia is in the top five, six countries in Europe in terms of how it is dealing with the virus.

That’s why, he says, we all need to be disciplined to keep life going.
