GORAN PAPIĆ ARRESTED Former Deputy Head of SBPOK Suspected of Influencing Trade

Goran Papić, former deputy head of SBPOK, was arrested today in Belgrade.

Papic was arrested by order of the Belgrade High Prosecutor’s Office.

– The suspect is accused of committing the crime of influence peddling, specified the spokeswoman for the prosecution, Ivana Rakočević, from Tanjug.

“With the approval of the Belgrade Deputy High Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours and will be questioned at the Belgrade High Prosecutor’s Office,” Rakočević added.

It is suspected that on April 15, 2020, making use of his position as head of SBPOK, he mediated that no official action should be taken, that is, he demanded the then head of the Belgrade City Police Department that he now detained Immediately returns the armored car that was later temporarily taken from him. The vehicle was returned to him the same day, the Interior Ministry announced.

Audition for at least four hours.

Papic was arrested in cooperation with the prosecution and police officers of the Serbian Interior Ministry. The hearing of the former head of the SBPOK is expected to last at least four hours, after which his status will be known and if he will be detained.

Papic was summoned for questioning as part of an investigation against a criminal group led by Veljko Belivuk, alias Velja Nevolja.
