Last night, the last Montenegro Airlines flight from Belgrade after landing at the airport near Podgorica had a farewell ceremony. After returning from Belgrade and landing, the Montenegro Airlines plane was greeted by two fire trucks that made a water arch.

The planes of the state airline “Montenegro Airlines” (MA) will no longer fly as of today, MA representatives announced last night.

That national airline operated for 26 years, of which it operated for more than 23 years.

“Due to the new circumstances, which refers to the decision of the Government not to support the existence of MA in the future and which has a very negative impact on the safety of continued air traffic, we estimate that this is a level of risk that MA cannot accept. As of December 26, 2020, we will completely suspend the expected traffic ”, it was announced from MA.

The Podgorica government announced this Thursday that due to European regulations and national laws on state aid, they can no longer pay a single euro to this company, and one of the models by which it will be extinguished is the inevitable bankruptcy, which may be requested by any of the dozens of creditors. .

The government said that they had not yet made a decision on the matter, but that their hands were tied and that they could not give MA any more financial aid, because they would have interrupted negotiations with the EU.
