Today, the Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Telecommunications, Rasim Ljajić, visited the construction sites of the Brzeće-Mali Karaman gondola and assessed that project as important for the development of tourism in Kopaonik, but also in the villages of Podkopaonica.
Ljajic told reporters that the gondola is undoubtedly the biggest tourism investment in recent years, which will revive Kopaonik as a tourist destination, as well as the villages of Podkopaonica and the entire region.
“I don’t need to emphasize what it means for Bruce and Brzeće, but we already have around 5,000 beds, hotels waiting to be categorized and they were really hoping that something like this would happen and that this gondola would finally work so these hotels could be put into operation.” emphasized the Minister.
According to him, the gondola will mark a new beginning for the economy, for the development of rural tourism, because many will decide to do that business because it will be economically profitable.
As Ljajić said, the gondola will mean a lot to alleviate traffic in the center of Kopaonik, because it will take you from the center of Brzeće to the center of Kopaonik in 13 minutes and you will not have to travel by car for 40, 45 minutes.
Ljajic hopes that the gondola will at least partially solve Kopaonik’s problem of seasonality and explains that, unlike Zlatibor, which accounts for 30 percent of tourist traffic during the summer months, Kopaonik only accounts for 16 percent. hundred.
“It is quite certain that the panoramic view of Kopaonik with the help of a gondola will be tempting and attractive to both domestic and foreign tourists. This is an investment that everyone has been waiting for,” Ljajic said.
He announced that based on the way construction is progressing for now, that project will likely be completed before the deadline, and that tourists in Kopaonik will be able to use it this winter season.
