“In just a month, my whole family died. After father and mother, the sister leaves. I am alone in the world now. I was orphaned.” Ljubiša Rakić (43), from Paraćin, whose father Dragiša (70) died of a crown on April 18, she said to Kurir with tears and barely speaking words. Only a day after her funeral, on April 23, her mother Radmila (72) died and on May 8, Ljubiša’s sister Ljiljana (47) lost the battle with this virus in KBC “Zemun”!
– I prayed to God that my sister would survive. I believed in that. She was better. Just the day before his death, his respirator was removed. The nurse told me that she felt fine and was talking after a long time. He was convinced that the worst was over and that he would be discharged from the hospital in two or three weeks, Ljubiša said in surprise, even without believing in the reality of the tragedy that happened to him.
The same day that her condition worsened, Ljiljana was returned to her respirator, but there was no way out.
– The hospital sent me a telegram on May 8 that she had died, but I did not receive it because she was not at home. A day later I spoke to a nurse, who told me that my nurse was critical and that she had to go urgently. It was only when I arrived at the hospital that I discovered that she really died, they did not want to tell me that over the phone – Ljubiša said.
He is convinced that his father Dragiša (70) contracted the crown at Ćuprija General Hospital, where he underwent dialysis three times a week and where, as it turned out later, a large number of doctors and medical personnel became infected. A few days after being transferred to KBC “Dragiša Mišović” in Belgrade, his mother and sister also developed a fever.
– The nurse was coughing a little yellow foam. I saw it for the first time in my life. She was urgently admitted to the Paraćin hospital and then transported to KBC “Zemun”. He had, like his mother, inflammation of both lungs. The mother did not want to go to the doctor for days because she was taking care of her sister and father. However, her condition worsened and after a few days she was transferred to the same hospital as her sister, Ljubiša says.
Ljiljana, who normally had diabetes, received oxygen and then a respirator. She did not find out about the death of her parents. Ljubiša was isolated for 28 days and negative for a crown.
– The sister was supposed to get married this year, and the untested son-in-law now paid for the funeral with that money. For me, she was the most valuable thing in life. I do not know why God will not take me too … And I do not know what I will do next … How to live a normal life after this – Ljubiša said.

Ljiljana Rakić was buried yesterday in Paraćin, and Ljubiša, for preventive reasons, asked that only the closest relatives come to the last farewell. – I foresaw my father’s death. That night, when he died, the lamp went out three times. I thought Ljilja would recover, so now I feel executed and as if someone stabbed me in the back. The only consolation for me is that I managed to find Ljilja’s grave with her parents, at least they are together … – says Ljubiša Rakić.
