The struggle for offspring is one of the greatest in the lives of many families. Georgina Tešanović, 34, from Jelava, near Loznica, managed to win that battle 14 months ago, when she gave birth to three children. However, her problems begin only then, because she was left alone with the babies in a ten-square-meter room.
After many years of waiting and fighting, Nikola, Mateja and Mihailo were born. The boys are healthy and happy. They are counting the first steps through the single room full of moisture, reports RTS.
– In this single room, which, I would say, intended to be a kitchen, we welcome summer, winter and spring. We eat and sleep here. We have three more rooms next to it, but they are not in good condition because our ceiling is leaking, the tile is getting wet, and the wall and plaster have started to fall off, says Georgina Tešanović from Jelava.
Georgina learned long ago that she goes through life with a smile even when it is most difficult. After the departure of her mother and the death of her father, she took care of her two younger sisters for years, making a living.
Immediately after the birth, her husband abandoned her and since then she has taken care of the babies on her own, with welfare as her only income. That, she says, is enough for her basic living needs: food and diapers, but not enough to winterize the house and wood.
– We will welcome winter in this room where the carpentry is very bad, the windows are in very bad condition, in winter it is very cold here, the stove is not enough to heat. Babies are in the walking phase, they want more space to crawl, move, it is not really possible here, it is not easy at all – explains Tešanović.
If she were not alone with the babies, Georgina says, she would not have chosen a job, because she learned to take care of herself and others as a child.
An additional problem for her is that due to unresolved property relationships, she could leave the house where she now lives.
