On Saturday, on the occasion of the Eucharist, everything will work until 12 o’clock, and after 12 o’clock until Monday at 6 o’clock, only stores, pharmacies and gas stations will work.
– Nothing will work on the ski and mountain slopes during the weekend, no cafes or shops. Starting Monday, high schools will switch to online classes, epidemiologist Predrag Kon said, adding that the next session of the crisis headquarters will be on Tuesday.
Kon pointed out that the immunization of citizens is the only way out of this situation, adding that cinemas will be able to run until 9 pm, and that sporting events will be without an audience, the rest will not be possible.
According to epidemiologists, a long-term lockdown would be a “more difficult option” for Serbia, and today’s measures are a “solution for now”.
– In the last four days we have not increased the number of new infections, although the large number of patients is around 4,000. That’s why any measure that prevents contact, even for a short time, is good, Kon said, adding that these are Crisis Staff solutions, not a medical part, and that these two days will bring some effect. , but yes. it will not be enough.
“If we just go to the closings, we will go round and round. That is why vaccination is important, the immunity that you get from the vaccine is higher and probably longer lasting than the immunity that someone who has had the disease has. Mild and asymptomatic cases do not grant permanent immunity, ”added Kon.
Kon said that to create “herd immunity”, it is necessary that 80 percent of the population, that is, more than five million citizens of Serbia, have immunity.
“The herd immunity that will ensure that there are really no problems is 80 percent, which is more than five million (citizens who have immunity). When those who are over 18 or 16 years old are separated, there are five million who have immunity. It should be understood that this is a dynamic process and that with the increase of that barrier, the activity of the virus decreases, “Kon told reporters after the crisis staff session.
He said that for now it is impossible for the corona virus to “disappear” because that would mean that everyone in all parts of the world is vaccinated equally.
As he said, the measures adopted should give positive results, that is, slow the growth of the number of new infected, but those results will not be seen this weekend, but from next weekend.
Kon added that crisis staff allowed more than planned due to the funeral.
When asked whether he would resign or take responsibility if the measures taken do not yield the desired results, Kon said he “constantly” takes responsibility as soon as he is a member of the crisis staff.
“I will not say if stronger measures should have been taken, I am responsible as soon as I am in this place and I will stay until the end. It is important for people to understand that enormous energy goes into preventing infection and controlling people who do not adhere to the measures. This has been proven and tested. We have to find a way to combat the virus, even if it is slow, sequential, no matter how difficult it may seem to those of us who are working on it, ”said the epidemiologist.
Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović said that the medical part of the crisis staff was “dissatisfied” with the measures taken in today’s session, because contacts should have been banned for three weeks to prevent transmission of the virus.
Vesić: avoided full shutdown for seven to ten days
After the crisis staff session, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić stated that he was satisfied that we avoided the curfew and full lockdown for seven to ten days, as proposed.
– I am not satisfied because we will have certain restrictions for the weekend. As of Monday, we return to working hours until 8:00 p.m. I hope this is the last weekend that we have at least a partial closure. I am happy because it was announced to the crisis staff that vaccination is best done in Belgrade. This is because the whole team, which I formed, is working in Belgrade on how to vaccinate as many people as possible. We are the best organized, we take care of vaccination and that is why we are the best, said Vesić, reports BeoInfo.
He added that 222 people were vaccinated for every 1,000 inhabitants in Belgrade and 120 were revaccinated. In the population aged 65-74 years, more than 500 people were vaccinated for every 1,000 inhabitants in Belgrade, and more than 450 in the population over 75 years of age. age.
– It is a great success and a great victory. That is also the message that I send on behalf of Belgrade. Mass vaccination and revaccination is the only way out of the epidemic, in addition to respecting the planned measures and not the new restrictions, Vesić wrote on his Facebook account, emphasizing that Prime Minister Brnabić made a great effort to find a compromise. .
Earlier today, the Secretary of State in the Health Ministry, Mirsad Đerlek, said that epidemiological measures must be stricter “if we want to stop” the spread of the corona virus epidemic.
“I mean all the measures that would prevent the gathering of more than five people, because it is evident that we can no longer depend on personal responsibility, especially the young people,” Djerlek told RTS this morning.
In the last 24 hours, 4,071 new coronavirus cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Serbia.
It should be remembered that in the last session of the crisis personnel, due to the worsening of the epidemiological situation in Serbia, the medical part proposed a curfew and the prohibition of contacts.
As a member of the crisis staff and the provincial health secretary, Zoran Gojković, said four days ago, the absolute lockdown is, according to them, the most convenient way to reduce the number of infected people in seven to ten days. He also announced a possible tightening of the measures for those who violate the measures.
Gojković added that under the conditions of a larger number of patients, the biggest problem is to carry out the vaccination successfully.
“If we have a large number of infected people, we will not be able to vaccinate people,” Gojković warned.
