Members of the Association of Internet Workers today organized a protest in front of the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Serbia, unhappy with the actions of the tax authorities towards them and “the silence of the Government of Serbia on their calls for dialogue.” They ask for the suspension of the sending of tax solutions that have been reaching them since October, which have been requiring the payment of payroll taxes retroactively for five years.
One of them, Milan Pogačar, told H1 that it is inadmissible for a few days before the New Year for more than 2,000 people to receive tax relief by 2015.
“Our demands remain the same, we are asking for the suspension of all procedures, now before the New Year and in crisis, more than 2,000 people have received calls from tax services, just to cover 2015 due to the statute of limitations”, Explain.
Immediately after these last calls, he says, they decided to go outside again.
“The protest is a reaction and every time this government, this ministry does something, when the Tax Administration takes a step and we will do it. There are many more actions to follow and our pressure for them to sit down to negotiate, because that is the only solution ”, emphasizes Pogacar.
When asked if anyone from the government responded to his calls for talks, he said no.
“Siniša Mali said he’s ready to speak there next year, he can’t, he has to sit at the table immediately, because people can’t wait, they can’t work, there’s a lot of pressure on them. It’s just not just irresponsible, it is the destruction of the lives of people and their families. At a time like this, in a pandemic, when there is an economic crisis, before the holidays, they are doing it, “Pogačar gets angry.
And how is it possible that the solutions for paying taxes have not arrived for years?
“The bank has the obligation to deliver a report on each entry of foreign currency, they did, and they have been waiting all these years to make 100,000 people, to charge interest, this is a robbery and nothing more, an organized robbery of the State.” Most people earn 300, 400, 500 euros like this, and it is not the same every month. The self-employed are also being laid off, and now they ask us to pay in five years, nobody has that money. That is unconstitutional and they will not be able to implement it ”, emphasizes Pogacar.
According to him, the state is to blame for the non-payment of taxes.
“When there are two or three who do not pay, tax evasion is evident. “But when you have 99.7 percent of the people who did not pay taxes, the error is in the state, the law has not been applied, and then when the state has empty coffers, it not only taxes us, but we steals, “says Pogačar.
He adds that many of the employees of the tax administration do not know how to calculate their taxes.
“The law must be changed, if the government remains silent, we will take to the streets again, but we will also radicalize the issue,” Pogacar told H1.
A group of groups of citizens who attended the protest of the Internet workers briefly blocked the crossing with the Government, for which the traffic was stopped.
