Nikola Mihailović was sentenced to four years in prison for a traffic accident on the Ibar highway. He was driving more than 117 kilometers per hour in a state of severe alcoholism and caused a dangerous situation.

As stated, if the convict was driving at the permitted speed of 50 kilometers per hour at the time, he could have avoided the collision, writes “Novosti.”

The driver of the Dacia is also partly to blame because he joined Ibarska nonstop and did not see the “BMW” coming.

Mihailović was released under house arrest until he was summoned to serve his sentence.

Let us remind you, in a terrible accident that occurred last year in August, four young people were killed: Katarina Ivanković, Aleksandar Savatić, Đordje Belušević and Đordje Subotić.

In October, images from a nearby surveillance camera were seen in the Superior Court. It shows how the “dacia” in which three guys were killed turned on Ibar, and a moment later a “BMW” crashed into her from behind, in which Katarina died.

On the basis of this recording, the traffic experts concluded that the errors that ultimately led to the accident were made both by the drivers and by Mihailović, who was at the wheel of the “BMW”, but also by Savatić, who was driving the “Dacia” and died in that accident.

– It is indisputable that the “dacia” did not stop before taking the main road, but the driver slowed down and when he started to turn he accelerated. However, his mistake was that he did not check if a vehicle was coming from his right side, because then he saw a “BMW” that was 42 meters away and was absent when starting or he saw it, but he wrongly estimated that it could start. “BMW” was going more than 100 kilometers per hour, and if it was moving at 50 km / h, which is the maximum allowed in that section, then it could have stopped and avoided the accident, said the expert.

The experts also determined that from the moment the “Dacia” turned in Ibarska and when the driver of the “BMW” could see its taillights, only 1.3 seconds passed until the moment of the collision.
