The trial of Dušan P. (35) from Koceljeva, accused by the High Prosecutor’s Office of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Violeta J. (19), continued before the Criminal Chamber of the Šabac High Court. He is charged with aggravated homicide under article 114 of the Penal Code, for which he is threatened with life imprisonment, but since the crime occurred before the reforms to the code, he could face a maximum of 40 years in prison.
Dušan P. was arrested after the tragic event on October 13 last year and has been in prison ever since, and several High Court hearings have been held so far.
A pathologist and a neuropsychiatrist appeared in court today, who kept the statements they gave during the investigation, writes “Telegraf.”

The psychiatric expertise oriented the investigation in the direction of classifying the crime as aggravated homicide according to article 114 instead of murder according to article 113, thus threatening a significantly shorter prison sentence, from 2 to 15 years. Due to that, the defense today demanded a new psychiatric expert opinion, which was rejected by the court panel, for which a new hearing is scheduled for October 29, in which the prosecutor and the defense will present their final arguments. and the court will issue a later verdict.
They were in a relationship for a year and a half
Violeta J. was brutally murdered in her home in Batalaga. She was in a relationship with Dušan for about a year and a half, and they separated a few days before the crime.
