The set of books for primary and secondary school students ranges from 6,600 to 17,200 dinars, according to the Serbian Rebellion research, which was posted on his Instagram account.
According to the structure of the minimum consumption basket of the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Telecommunications for a family of three in 2020, the allocation of 125.26 dinars for education per month, or 0.33 percent of the total amount of the minimum basket, announced the Association of Serbian Rebellions.
This would mean that for the cheapest set of books for the first grade of primary school of 6,600 dinars, a family with an income of 37,890.42 dinars should save 53 months, that is, four years and five months.
The absurdity is even greater if it is noted that this allocation of 125.26 dinars for education refers to a family of three, although there is talk every day of encouraging births, according to the announcement of the Rebellion.
According to the research, in the average consumption basket, which amounts to 72,887.58 dinars, the monthly allowance for education is 480, 41 dinars or 0.66 percent. But if we take the example that the family has a son who attends the seventh grade and needs to reserve 17,200 dinars for a pack of books, the savings would last 36 months, that is, three years.
As they point out, if we look at the minimum consumption basket and the planned monthly allowance for education of 125.26 dinars, according to her, for a set of books for the seventh grade or for a high school student of 17,200 dinars, it should be save 138 months or 11 years and six months.
It is also noted that all of these costs are significantly higher because they do not include the costs of school supplies and protective masks that are mandatory due to the COVID19 epidemic.
If you look at it mathematically, then it is impossible to educate a child in Serbia, but then what we have been the best at for centuries appears on the scene, and that is resignation.
“We give up new shoes, clothes, going to the dentist, heating in the children’s rooms, traveling, having lunch with friends, etc. … That’s how your parents gave up, that’s how you give up … And do you want the same waiver for your son? “, is stated in the publication on the Instagram profile of this association.
