Dr. Verica Jovanović, director of the Trampoline Institute, suggested that the Serbian New Year celebration be held at home and without large gatherings.
– We cannot say that the situation has stabilized, but it is much better than 15 days ago. Yesterday we had about 5,500 hospitalized, and that is why I emphasize that all measures are necessary in the future. Vaccination is recommended and should be carried out as widely as possible, because that way we will gain herd immunity – said Dr. Jovanović, as reported by “Kurir”.
Dr. Jovanović also spoke about vaccination.
– Together we help to publicize the importance of vaccination, and a measure from the medical aspect is necessary. The large number of citizens registered through e-government is unexpected.
The director of Trampoline also commented on whether the little ones can be vaccinated.
– When it comes to a new disease and vaccination, there are numerous questions, so information must be provided. That is why the Questions and Answers section will be featured on the institute’s website. When it comes to vaccinating children, all vaccines that are produced and used are precisely defined for the age that can be covered. Pfizer is defined for ages 16 and over. It is important to follow the instructions on the vaccine itself – says the director of the Institute “Trampoline”.
As he says, the fight against the virus itself has developed rapidly.
– Each of the vaccines can be used when it passes the appropriate controls. Clinical trials are underway for certain age populations and I am convinced that we will have a vaccine for younger ages. Until then, we will follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. That means that, from 18 years onwards for “Sputnik V”, and from 16 years onwards for Fajzerova, they are currently available on our market, said the doctor.
Jovanovic says that the corona virus is easily transmitted, from person to person, and that communication inside is the main cause of transmission, so he calls for compliance with the measures.
When it comes to places in hospitals, Dr. Jovanović says that at the moment, 5,554 people are in the hospital.
– It is very important to apply measures. We have a covid hospital and no one could have predicted that the epidemic would last that long. When the number of patients in hospitals falls, all capacities are transferred to the hospitals that are destined for that.
