Five young men, workers at the Dorcol construction site, became true heroes after their feat together on Tuesday. Niko David, Nemanja Držajić, Lazar Ereš, Nenad Janković and Pavle Gavura were working at a nearby construction site when they heard a girl screaming from the burning apartment from the building across the street.
“My friends and I stood in front of the building and heard the girl asking for help. At first we didn’t even realize what we saw, we quickly organized ourselves and called the whole team to help,” Drzajic told H1.
He also explains that they were unable to communicate with the girl through the apartment below.
“Pavle immediately got on the balcony, he wanted to climb with the girl, he was in a risky position, but he thought a bit and we took the rope with which we tied him. He convinced the girl to trust him and to cross the balcony and so on. we saved her. ” Držajić account.
“We didn’t even agree and we did each of our tasks perfectly as a team,” says Držajić, adding that at the time no one thought about the risk, rather everyone wanted to help the 15-year-old girl.
It also says that firefighters came when they lowered the girl in the apartment below, and that the ambulance arrived two minutes later.
They say they are not in contact with the girl, but with her mother, who told them that the girl is out of danger.
The young heroes also say that two days ago they launched an appeal to all kind-hearted people so that they could later help to renovate the apartment in which the girl could live normally.
