Final works on the Sopot circuit, a boost for the development of eastern Serbia

The Director of the Serbian Corridor, Aleksandar Antić, visited the additional works being carried out on the South and East branches of Corridor 10.

The sections of the E75 motorway from Nis to the Macedonian border and the E80 motorway, which run to the Bulgarian border, are fully open to traffic in 2019.

“On the eastern branch of Corridor 10, towards the border with Bulgaria, final works are being carried out on the construction of the Sopot loop, near Pirot. By building this circuit, we will obtain an additional incentive for the economic development of the entire east. from Serbia and a better connection of local communities, “said director Antić. Likewise, in the area of ​​the municipalities of Niska Banja, Bela Palanka, Pirot and Dimitrovgrad, some 70 km of existing state roads are being rehabilitated, which improves the existing road network connecting the highway, local and regional centers, which creates the conditions for faster economic development in this area.

On this occasion, the director of the Serbian Corridor and his collaborators visited the permanent stabilization works of slope C26 in the Bancarevo-Crvena Reka section, which solves the problem of the most massive landslide in Corridor 10.

At both ends of Corridor 10, permanent slope stabilization works are being completed, and the team of experts carries out daily measurements and constant monitoring of the stability of all slopes, that is, support structures built.

“The southern branch of Corridor 10, which we visited, is important because it connects the north and south of the country, and the section through the Grdelica gorge is the most difficult construction project carried out in Serbia so far. According to the highest standards, two tunnels, bridges, two loops have been built, permanent stabilization works are being carried out on slopes 2, 3 and 4, and their completion is one of the priorities of the “Serbian Corridor”, he said. Antic.

During his visit to Corridor 10, Director Antić recalled the strong support provided by President Aleksandar Vučić, the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure during the implementation of this priority state project.
