In his liturgical sermon, Metropolitan Chrysostom noted that the late Patriarch Irinej yesterday joined his predecessors on the throne of Saint Sava, who “will recognize him as a wise and faithful administrator of the Church entrusted to him.”

According to the Metropolitan, the last decade, while the late Patriarch Irinej was at the head of the Church, was “extremely difficult and turbulent both in the country and in the diaspora, and he, as head of the church,” rushed, as few times before him, to be where he was. his presence was needed ”.

– He wisely led the boat of our Church of Saint Sava, trying to preserve the Church in unity, holiness and catholicity. Unfortunately, some fell from that ship and the storms of the sea swallowed them up and carried them away not because of the blessed patriarch and our Church, but because of the incorrigibility of the unfortunate. But, we leave all the judgment to God and to history “- said Metropolitan Chrysostom.

According to him, “the spiritual testament of Patriarch Irinej is the preservation of the unity of the Serbian people through the Church, language, writing and culture, as well as the Church of Saint Sava in peace, harmony and unity.”

As the patriarch’s will, the metropolitan also mentioned “the preservation of the martyrdom of Kosovo and Metohija in unity with Serbia”, and the care of the Serbian Orthodox Church by the faithful in Montenegro, RS, Australia, America and Europe.

He especially warned the “brothers and sisters in New York not to lose their unity in Christ Jesus as they seek his righteousness.”

In New York, due to disagreements over the renovation of the burned St. Sava church, there was an open dispute between the work of the believers and the competent bishop of East America, Irinej (Dobrijevic).

The part of the liturgy was attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, with the head of Serbian diplomacy, Nikola Selaković, and the head of the BIA, Bratislav Gašić.

In addition to several hundred believers, the memorial service included: Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin, the new and former director of the Directorate for Relations with Churches and Religious Communities Vladimir Roganovic and Mileta Radojevic, the Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar, Prince Filip Karadjordjevic and Princess Danica, Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro Vladimir Božović, Deputy Mayors of Belgrade Andreja Mladenović, numerous priests and monks are on fire.
