The best Serbian athlete Ivana Španović, together with her boyfriend Marko Vulet, had live interlocutors on Instagram with whom she spoke about diabetes.
The reason is today’s celebration of World Diabetes Day.
According to the Republic Health Insurance Fund (RHIF), around 710,000 adults in Serbia suffer from diabetes, and this disease is the fifth leading cause of death.
“You have to get the most out of diabetes, no matter how crazy it may seem. While playing sports, I pushed all I could to prove that diabetes can’t stop me. The limit is only in our heads, of course, if we know well diabetes, “said Aleksandar Opacic, president of the Serbian Diabetes Association.
Marko was interested in the percentage of people with type 2 diabetes among young people, and Opačić replied:
“There is no precise data. 20 years ago, it was unthinkable that type 2 diabetes would occur in children. I contracted diabetes 23 years ago, when nothing was known about the types of diabetes. That trend came from the United States, mainly due to a unhealthy diet. ” .
“The biggest problem with the vast majority is the lack of education,” added Opacic.
Before Opacic, Ivana’s interlocutor was the well-known presenter Dejan Pantelic.
