We have already had a “non-paper” in which chapters 23 and 24 are presented as difficulties. I don’t expect there to be any big differences until the report that will be published next month. They are important criticisms and it is true that Serbia has to work hard to be ready for the EU, Fajon told the “EWB Screening” program on the European Western Balkans (EWB) portal.

When asked how she feels when she hears criticism of herself coming from Belgrade, which often goes in her personal direction, after criticizing the situation in Serbia, she replied that criticism on personal account is something she is not used to in Slovenia.

“It is not our culture in Slovenia to attack politicians in such a personal way. But I should probably get used to the fact that the political atmosphere and the culture of dialogue in Serbia is different.” I regret that every time I criticize the situation in Serbia, everyone is announced immediately: the president, the prime minister, the defense minister or the president of the Assembly, “Fajon said.

She added that, as a European parliamentarian, she wants to support Serbia and its citizens on the path to the European Union and do everything possible in that regard.

“It is probably easier to find someone who is known as a person, it is a symbol of all mistakes. I think I often have the feeling that the government is using me as a symbol of the opposition. Once again, my job as a European parliamentarian is to take care of the support of Serbia on the way to the EU. These are not personal attacks on me, I am already used in politics to politicians using attacks for their own political points. That is probably the atmosphere that manifested itself especially before the elections, ”Fajón said.
