The Kovid hospitals in Belgrade are almost full and the increase in oxygen consumption confirms that the number of patients with a serious clinical picture has also increased, warned prof. Dr. Nebojsa Ladjevic, director of the KCS Anesthesiology Center and coordinator of all Serbian hospitals.
Lađević pointed out to RTS that there are now more and more younger patients in Kovid’s hospitals, as well as that doctors and all health workers are under great pressure.
“Now we have more younger patients, in general we have more patients in general, and then that percentage of young people is proportionally higher. It is certainly a message to all citizens that everyone can get the crown and that care must be taken.” added. Lađević warned.
He also stated that there are patients in hospitals who received the first dose of the vaccine because apparently no antibodies have yet been developed, and on the other hand, there are no patients who have received the second dose of the vaccine.
“All patients should be careful after the first and second vaccines, especially the Chinese vaccine. Thirty days after the second Chinese vaccination would be an optimal deadline if they already had a fairly high level of antibodies,” Ladjevic said.
He noted that the increased oxygen consumption certainly speaks to how much the number of patients has increased.
“If you consume seven tons of oxygen, it means that you have many patients. What we are concerned about is the patient’s dependence on oxygen, which means that these are all moderately severe to severe clinical pictures that are found in the hospital as soon as you have to. use oxygen, “he explained. “Let’s be patient for two more months”
He also said that if someone reports to the hospital on time, when there is a temperature jump, weakness, at the beginning of the disease, and implements a therapeutic protocol, there is a great possibility that they will not end up in the intensive care unit and in a mechanical respirator.
However, as he said, if during that period, due to other reasons, such as associated diseases, a respirator is still produced, the chances are also much higher that the patient will be cured.
Regarding the announced tightening of epidemiological measures, Ladjevic pointed out that it is difficult to find a measure.
“I think now we are in a period where we are about to make a solution for a large number of patients to be vaccinated, for the vaccine to work. Somehow we got into a situation where we are close to the exit, and we made a mistake with our behavior, “Ladjevic said.
It points out that the “blockade” does not have to be an absolute solution, but that absolute compliance with the prescribed measures must be accompanied by a sanction for those who do not implement them.
The second way, according to Lađević, is to stop the infection and shut everything down.
“I think it would be smart to be patient as a nation for another two months, vaccinate everyone who can, develop antibodies and welcome summer in completely different conditions. With this delay, we will arrive next year,” Ladjevic said. .
