At KBC “Dr. Dragiša Mišović”, a patient (75) ended his life by jumping out of a window. The cause of such tragedies and other unpredictable situations faced by medical workers at this institution are often panic attacks and fear of death, says Dr. Predrag Savić.
– We bring someone from the window every day. There are many psychiatric cases where there is a fear of death, a fear of panic that leads people to acute psychosis. You can’t predict that – Deputy Director Dr. Predrag Savić told “Blic”.
However, that was not the case with the man who jumped out of the hospital window last night. It was not a psychiatric case, says Dr. Savic. However, he witnessed difficult, one might say spooky scenes: his roommate from the hospital room, from bed to his, died from the corona virus. Then the man (75), who was also being treated by the crown, approached the window.
– It was not a psychiatric case, but the panic of fear of death is common in people and is highly developed. The sisters were there all the time, there was an exit in the bed next to his and he was already going to the window. The nurse cannot be constantly on duty with a patient, especially not in the moment and the situation in which he is now. Unfortunately, that was unavoidable and we faced those things every day, says Dr. Savić.
The unfortunate (75) committed suicide by jumping from the first floor of the “Dragiša Mišović” hospital around two hours after midnight.
