By cities, the average salary in Hamburg was 3,820, 400 euros more than the general German average.

According to the same data, the citizens of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have the lowest salaries with an average of 2,608 euros.

Wages are said to remain often lower in eastern districts and cities relative to the western part of Germany.
