The president of the Serbian Education Workers’ Union, Jasna Janković, submitted three requests to the Ministry of Education and said that the Union hopes they will be discussed with the new Minister Branko Ružić.

Two thirds of all problems in education depend on money, but one third depends on the good will of the minister, and that is why Branko Ruzic can change a lot if he is willing to agree with us, the Union of Workers of the Education of Serbia.

Jankovic told reporters outside the Government building in Belgrade that the most important request was to change the Decree on coefficients for calculating teachers’ salaries, noting that Ruzic said at a meeting on Wednesday that “salary grades” would not be introduced. as of January.

The Union is committed to reducing the number of students in classes to make classes more “dynamic” and so that in the current situation, all students can come to school, instead of being divided into groups and attending classes in combination.

As a third request, Janković submitted the control of employees to the Ministry of Education.

He estimated that two thirds of the problems in education are related to money, but that the remaining third is “a matter of good will” and asked Minister Ruzic to be “interested in solving the problem” and “bring one third to perfection “.

Jankovic assessed that Prime Minister Ana Brnabic “behaves like a PR of education”, that she sees education as a competition in which Serbia shows the world what has been achieved, but that nobody knows the real problems in education and nobody wants listens to them.

On Wednesday, Minister Ruzic had his first meeting with the presidents of four representative unions in education and concluded that “they are not opposing parties, but partners.”

“I want to open healthy communication, understand each other, agree, open a dialogue and represent the interests of employees in education and raise the quality of education,” Ruzic said, the ministry announced.

The meeting was attended by Valentina Ilic from the Serbian Education Union, Slobodan Brajkovic from the Serbian Education Workers Union, Jasna Jankovic from the Education Workers Union and Tomislav Zivanovic from the Serbian Education Workers Union “Nezavisnost”.
