Drobnjak proposes an increase in tolls, Momirović against it!

If the Serbian government accepts the request of the acting director of “Roads of Serbia” that the toll price be increased to six percent, it will mean a blow to the pocket for drivers and 125 dinars more to drive from Subotica to Presevo.

This is the longest route on the Serbian road network, where even now, without a further price increase, the toll amounts to 2,090 dinars, and with a price increase of six percent, it would be 2,215 dinars. Driving on the highway from Belgrade to the toll ramp at Nis Malča would increase from the current 930 dinars to 986 dinars, or an additional 56 dinars. Drivers heading from Belgrade to Preljina on part of Corridor 11 will use 445 dinars to use the new road, instead of the previous 420 dinars.

V. d. Zoran Drobnjak, director of “Roads of Serbia”, confirmed to Kurir that he would send to the Ministry of Transport and the Government of Serbia for their consideration an official proposal for, he believes, a “small increase in tolls” of five or six percent. .

– Whether there will be an increase in the price of tolls is a question for the Government. The toll should be increased by five or six percent because we need money for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the roads, we need to repair the roads that are in poor condition – said Drobnjak, who, as he says, does not insist on the urgency of climbing tolls.

– The increase should occur when the conditions for it are met. There is the competent Ministry of Transport and the Government, which will decide. As director of “Roads of Serbia”, it behooves me to ask, so what I get, I understand – explain and remember that “Roads of Serbia” could help maintain the roads that are under the jurisdiction of local governments. Tolls in Serbia last rose 12 percent in July last year.

Tomislav Momirović

We will not charge the citizens

Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Tomislav Momirovic told Kurir that he would “carefully consider” the proposed “Serbian Roads”.

– We are aware of the reduction in toll revenue this year, but at this time we cannot charge the citizens of Serbia with new taxes. First, we must work to increase internal efficiency in public companies, Momirović noted.

Prof. Milan Vujanic

We have lower rates than European ones

The professor at the Faculty of Transport, Milan Vujanić, told Kurir that tolls in Serbia are lower than in Europe and that the increase of five or six percent is fully justified.

– We have to build roads and highways, they are the safest. When you drive on the highway, you consume less fuel and get to your destination faster. Save time and fuel. When you go from Belgrade to Nis, you travel 240 kilometers in just over an hour, imagine how much time and money you would spend going down a secondary road. A kilometer of road costs from one million to five million euros – recalls the professor.

Table – Toll amounts increased by six percent
