Dr. Predrag Kon revealed the information that interests us all: Black Friday is ahead

To prevent the spread of the infection, new measures were introduced and Dr. Predrag Kon explained what should be the main thing in the fight against coronavirus.

The epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff, Dr. Predrag Kon, stated that the main thing in the fight against the coronavirus is the prevention of contacts and the introduction of a stricter control of patients who have been assigned home isolation. He says the number of new patients shows that the measures have not been taken seriously enough so far.

He points out that the medical part of the crisis headquarters has been advocating for some time to shorten the working hours of catering services, mainly nightclubs, which are the most critical places for infection.

– Working hours were shortened, and we were even more acute and asked to shorten until 6 pm The objective is to save lives and ensure the normal functioning of the health system that has been seriously attacked. Do you respect the measurements?

He points out that crowds should be avoided, all those places where it is impossible to maintain a physical distance, including “Black Friday”, which is in front of us, and which could gather a large number of customers in one place.

As for measures that effectively suppress the spread of the epidemic, he says that he is not clear which would be the most favorable and that, epidemiologically speaking, the most effective is the complete prevention of contacts.

– We had a shutdown in March, but then we didn’t know much about the virus and we weren’t ready for it. Now it is not possible to speak like that and the measure of the state of emergency is inappropriate at this time – says the epidemiologist.

He estimates that the current activity of the virus is extremely high.

“I think we have released too much of the virus and now it is very difficult to control it,” says Dr. Kon.

When asked what is known about the virus today, the epidemiologist says that there is a lot of new knowledge about Kovid-19, and that one thing is for sure: Kovid is a natural virus, which is proven by the fact that time passes and it is still in circulation.

– Man-made viruses generally cannot survive in nature for long. Again, this is just observation and speculation, because so far no one has proven that any virus originated in the laboratory, says Dr. Kon.

“Antibodies are lost, but not equally in all”

Regarding the antibodies and if those who have been infected with the coronavirus are “calm”, the epidemiologist says that there is a lot of ambiguity, but that it is clear that the level of antibodies is lost, not in all individuals at the same speed.

– The point is that the antibodies are lost after a maximum of six months. Antibodies in, say, the flu have been proven to be lost after six months, which is why we have vaccinations every season. With all viruses, there is a problem with the duration of immunity after vaccination, and with Kovid, everything will be investigated in detail, says the epidemiologist.

“A miracle should not be expected from a vaccine”

When asked about the vaccines Serbia will buy, Dr. Kon says he is confident in which vaccines we will buy.

– If you didn’t trust, you wouldn’t be an epidemiologist. Epidemiologists are “apostles of immunization” and those who transfer knowledge, applicable in such situations. The vaccine is a salvation, but a miracle should not be expected from it, because the effectiveness of each vaccine must be tested in practice – says Dr. Kon, adding that it must take a long time for that.

Adverse reactions, he says, are also being investigated for a long period of time.
