As he explains Gordana Krtinic, PhD, an epidemiologist at the Hospital Subotica General, the protocol for discharging patients who were positive was clear and in line with the WHO recommendations. It implies that a person, after three days without symptoms, is tested and, if negative, is released subject to mandatory 14-day home isolation, after which the PCR test is repeated at the local health center. After that, the person can return to their regular activities.
– When a new negative test is obtained after 14 days of isolation, the patient is considered absolutely safe for society and can return to normal community activities. I ask citizens not to be afraid of patients who were sick and lying in the hospital, because none of them were discharged without two negative tests, which means that they are no longer carriers of the germ or can spread the infection in its environment. – says the epidemiologist Dr. Krtinic.
On the other hand, the General Hospital calls on citizens to pay attention to personal protection, since in up to 18 percent of cases a person has no symptoms and is a carrier of the virus.
– Citizens should pay more attention to personal protection and promote their safe behavior, since all other citizens not tested with viruses can be asymptomatic carriers. Regardless of the relaxation of the measures, I urge once again that the personal protection measures continue to be respected, which include the use of masks, safe distance, hygiene and / or disinfection of hands. – emphasizes Dr. Krtinic.
He described the situation at Subotica as stable in the past two weeks, but still uncertain. Since this is a new, non-vaccine virus, which is transmitted by droplets that are easy to spread, it is very important that everyone follows the advice of a doctor. Only in this way can a stable situation be maintained, and this will depend solely on the behavior of people.
– I would like to say on behalf of all the health professionals who have been here since the first day of the fight against Kovid: we are going to hold on, so please hold on Dr. Gordana Krtinic said.
