Epidemiologist and crisis staff member Predrag Kon expects fewer new cases from next week, but according to him, this will not be uniform across the country because the virus has spread differently.
“It should be noted that this will take a long time,” Kon said.
The epidemiologist expects a lower number of recently infected people in Belgrade next week, because there is no increase for the second week. However, that won’t change the difficult situation across the country much, because the virus is only breaking out in some parts.
It will be similar for the next vacation.
– The situation will be difficult for the holidays because the pressure on the hospitals will continue to be great. The measures will be in force as long as necessary. Personally, I think they could be sharper, said Kon for RTS.
When it comes to our citizens living abroad, Kon says everything must be done to prevent them from coming to the country.
– If the same number arrives as in Easter, we will not be able to bear it. The system did not break, but it is already overloaded and the situation is extremely difficult – said Kon.
When it comes to kindergartens and lower grades of primary school, Kon says the situation is stable.
– There was very little transmission of the virus among children. Although now we have teachers who get sick, it was not at work – said Kon.
