Epidemiologist Predrag Kon stated that we are not even close to victory over the coronavirus and emphasized that our health system quickly adapted to fully respond to a heavy blow, adding that “it showed the vitality that we must boast of” .

– I think we have overcome this (first) wave in a solid and even successful way. We will see what happens next, because we should not relax too much. We are not close to victory yet, because victory means that there are no viruses, as well as no deaths for a long period of time. We’ll probably have a break during the summer, and then we’ll have to prepare for winter or fall again – Kon said.

When asked if that means he expects the second wave of Kovid 19 to appear and if it could be stronger, Kon replied that “it is not easy to assess.”

– There are opinions of doctors that this will not happen, there are also those who say that the wave will be milder. I’m quite restricted on that subject because we still don’t have information about our collective immunity – Kon said.

When asked what he expects from the investigation that will show the level of collective immunity in Serbia, he said he hopes “the infection is not the same in all parts of Serbia.”

– And I don’t think it’s massive, but far from that. I think it exists, but it is not enough. There are differing opinions on this among epidemiologists and among crisis staff physicians for the Kovid-19 crackdown – Kon said.

But, as he added, “and when we get the results, it will only be an estimate, to know exactly, we would have to evaluate all citizens, and that is practically impossible.”

He said that a decree would soon be approved according to which “companies will be forced to prepare their protection plan during the pandemic, because it will last a long time.”

As he said, “that means companies must also provide the use of protective means and equipment, disinfectants at the entrance and in the facilities, which will be mandatory.”

– For now, we believe that it is better for those who work further from home to do so, until we verify that the virus is no longer circulating. That is recommended, but it also depends on the evaluation of the employers – Kon said.

He thinks it is better to spend a summer vacation in Serbia.

“Here we know what the situation is, and somewhere we know what they are telling us,” Kon said.
