The number of deaths will increase and that is mathematically clear. We will see that in the next few weeks and that number may be in the triple digits – said Dr. Predrag Kon, epidemiologist and crisis staff member, on the morning show on Prva TV.
Dr. Kon also explained what the main topics will be in today’s crisis staff session, and one of the main points to be discussed is the transition to online teaching in Serbian schools.
– We are not talking about the completion of school work, but a short-term, week-long transition to online classes. This is all. As for the winter holidays, keep talking about it. Interference from flu and covid must be prevented, because the flu has not yet started, Dr. Kon said.
The epidemiologist also explained that important topics will be vaccines against the coronavirus and analyzes the implementation of the measures prescribed so far, as well as the evaluation of the condition.
“Both Jankovic and I are right”
Dr. Kon is optimistic and pointed out that there is a change in the epidemiological situation, especially in the capital, but also that we have the effect of “spilling” the infection to the south of Serbia and Vojvodina.
When asked how he views this situation in a positive light and as an “overflow”, while his colleague from the Crisis Team, Dr. Srdja Jankovic, believes that the epidemic is increasing, Kon diplomatically replied that they were both right in some way. .
– This is a natural flow, these are not the consequences of the measurements, but the natural flow of the measurements. We will only see the real results next week – he said.
He also explained that online teaching will be introduced regardless of the results that the measures have given so far, because “you don’t have to wait and that is something that must be introduced simultaneously.”
In the end, Kon also commented on the situation in the area and said that it was not for comparison and that it was not a competition.
