“At first, the whole world was surprised by the intensity of the virus activity and nobody was prepared. We are one of the countries in this part of Europe that was among the last to enter the virus, so we could see the experiences of others, “said Dr. Daria Kisi Tepavevi.
He said that at that time, Serbia managed to save many lives with restrictive measures, especially older citizens.
As he explained, in the examples of Spain and Italy, it was seen how the health system is overloaded, that is the main fear of those who work in the repression of the epidemic.
“The big problem was among the older population, especially in old houses, where mortality is still the highest, and it was our priority to act preventively, at that time we managed to save older citizens with restrictions,” he said Dr. Kisi Tepavevi.
As he says, in the meantime, more tests have been requested in the market, new equipment has been acquired and therefore at the beginning of this wave there is no need for further restrictions and the introduction of a state of emergency.
“In the meantime, we got respirators, tests that didn’t exist at the beginning, they weren’t available. The whole world was preparing for the virus that way, although we all hoped we didn’t need it,” explained Dr. Kisi Tepavevi.
