Although the stigma of “alternative medicine” has been removed today, doctors still appeal to patients not to treat themselves, but to first consult their doctor about any possible therapy. Because the dangers of “unproven drugs” are enormous.
The director of the Institute of Oncology and Radiology at the Serbian Clinical Center, Dr. Danica Grujicic, also spoke about the dangers of treatment via the Internet, which is becoming more and more common today. .
– Regarding alternative and alternative treatments, we had a patient who fried her esophagus because her daughter read on the Internet that lime water melts a tumor. Then we had a patient who died of hunger because they read it somewhere on the internet, if you don’t eat, the tumor will have nothing to eat, etc. They are terrible things and that is exactly why I say that the Internet is a danger – says Dr. Grujicic.
– Vitamin B17 was popular for a time. You don’t know what complications there were with liver function in the patients who took it. The liver is a cleanser of the body and you disable it because you drink an alternative. So there is no alternative until you talk to your oncologist, your doctor, says Dr. Grujicic and adds:
– The bad side of the Internet is that everyone who does not understand medicine, does not understand, but has no idea of anything, is allowed to talk about very serious things. I can understand when someone says they use a plant and it feels good. I can understand that. But for someone to offer a cure for cancer, without being examined by official medicine, is an absolutely unacceptable category – he concluded abruptly.
