Another 19,500 doses of vaccines from the manufacturer “Pfizer-Biontek” are expected to arrive in Serbia today, says the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Djerlek, adding that it is planned to vaccinate about 11,000 health workers and users of centers this week. gerontological.

Djerlek indicated that a meeting was held today between the members of the National Immunization Coordination Team with the Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, and that a detailed vaccination plan was drawn up for this week.

In the future, he says, he will make a detailed vaccination plan weekly or every ten days.

This week, vaccinations will take place every day except Christmas, including weekends.

– We plan to vaccinate about 11,000 people before the weekend, with half of the vaccines destined for health workers and the other half for gerontology centers and social protection institutions – Đerlek said.

Immunization of healthcare workers will begin tomorrow, starting with Kovid’s intensive care units, admission and triage centers and hospitals.

Djerlek says 2,400 doses of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine will be consumed this week, and that a portion of that vaccine will most likely be put into use tomorrow.

– In the first phase, the plan is to vaccinate about 720,000 people. In addition to health workers, there are also users of gerontological centers and social protection institutions, later over 75 years old, citizens between 64 and 74 years old who have associated diseases, explained Djerlek, who is also president of the National Immunization Coordinator .

He claims that this is a good sign, that people in Serbia have realized that without a vaccine, they cannot overcome a plague like kovid 19.

The duration of the first phase of vaccination will depend on the number of vaccines reaching Serbia.

– The Prime Minister announced that around a million doses of vaccines will arrive in January, but I think more than that will arrive – said Đerlek, adding that health workers working in red zones will be vaccinated in kovid hospitals, users from nursing homes to homes. , and that for other checkpoints they are most likely in health centers.
